Standard Data Search
A standard search is made within a specified radius of a point (six figure grid reference or point marked on a large scale map required) or a clearly defined site boundary (if provided by enquirer). Searches cannot be made on undefined areas marked by the enquirer around a site boundary, as these are not specific enough to be reproduced as a search area.
The standard search consists of notified sites held by the WSBRC on GIS, and legally protected/Biodiversity Action Plan (1)/notable species (2).

Species
- Species with legal protection under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 as amended
- Priority Species as listed in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan or within local BAPs published for Wiltshire & Swindon
- Species classed as notable which have national or local conservation status
Sites are mapped using GIS and species data held in a Recorder 6 database. These are interrogated and the resulting information will be provided as part of the report. In addition, sites will be listed with site attributes such as site name, status, criteria for designation and source information. Species will also be listed with scientific and common names (where latter exists), status, grid reference and date of record. Recorder names and contact details are held but not provided in data search outputs.
(1) Local BAPs are as follows: Wiltshire Biodiversity Action Plan 2002; Swindon Biodiversity Action Plan 2005; Cotswold Water Park Biodiversity Action Plan 1997.
(2) The Wiltshire County Notable list is available on request.
