Butterfly Reports

2010 Season in a Nutshell
"Generally agreed by most recorders as being a good butterfly season with the exception of immigrants."

Butterflies 2008
(Full report to be published in April 09)

"Two reliable records of Large Tortoiseshells. One in Grovely Wood by Gordon Mackie on 24th April and one in an Allington garden, near Salisbury by Phillippa Parker on 20th July."

Some Highlights of the 2007 Butterfly Season
"Due to the exceedingly warm sunny spring, especially in April :-  21 species emerged very early, creating new earliest county records; 1 species equalled the earliest modern county record; 3 species achieved new latest county records and 3 species equalled the latest county record."

Butterflies 2007
"Two reliable sightings of singleton Large Tortoiseshell at Biddestone (Maurice Avent) and Roves Farm (Steve Covey). Several others seen in Dorset & Hampshire so a fairly strong immigration and may result in a natural re-establishment of this extinct breeding species."
