Mosses and Liverworts Reports
Bryophytes in North Wiltshire (VC7) Activities and highlights in 2010
"Five of 2010’s new discoveries were liverworts. Several should really have been confirmed before as they are pretty common and widespread. Still, it’s never too late to catch up!"
Bryophytes in North Wiltshire (VC7) Activities and highlights in 2009
"Several new vice-county records have been made recently. Two of these species were to be expected as they have been spreading across much of the country in recent years. The tiny leafy liverwort Cololejeunea minutissima was found near Sandpool Farm near Ashton Keynes. It was subsequently found at another site in the Cotswold Water Park soon after and there are now records from Clinghill Wood near Bromham and Savernake Forest. It is not the easiest species to find, but I anticipate many more records in the future."
Review Of Bryophyte Recording In VC7 North Wiltshire
"In 2008 I have been attempting to cover as much ground as possible to record as many species as possible – common and not so common. Unfortunately there are few other active bryologists in North Wiltshire and my efforts have been largely single-handed so far, apart from the few occasions that Andrew Branson has strayed up from his patch (South Wiltshire) where he has more than enough to keep him busy."
